About Me
I am a Venezuelan mom and graphic designer and currently reside in San Diego, California. In 2001 I came to Los Angeles, California after living in Mexico City for three years. Mexico gave me the opportunity for professional and personal growth re-enforced by the taking in of fascinating culture and customs.
Since I was young I was attracted to traveling, not only to know different parts of the world but to learn from other cultures and "broaden my horizons" (as my mom would always tell me). Now I feel very fortunate to experience a time of great possibilities in a country where there are many opportunities to achieve any dream. For me it is very rewarding to fulfill the roles of mother, wife and friend without having to do without my career and hobbies. At the end of the day, family is the most important part to me and there is nothing better than to share everything with them.
Growing up in Venezuela I cherished those big, special family reunions and even the smaller get-togethers with some family and friends. Food was the main ingredient of those gatherings - I knew there were going to be familiar dishes, sharing of recipes and surprising new dishes being passed around. Music and dancing was the second ingredient and there was always an instrument around and somebody who could play it well.
Today my family consists of my husband Derek, whom I met after two months of arriving in Los Angeles, our 4 year-old son Adrian and year-and-a-half baby May. Since I have all those memories of Venezuela, I always try and incorporate something special from those times into our day-to-day life.
My bilingual blog www.mamitalks.com was born in 2007 driven by my need to share the experiences as a mother and photos of my first-born son with my family and friends now all over the world.
