PLACE egg in small bowl; stir in small amount of milk mixture. Add to milk mixture; cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract. Pour into dessert dishes. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. Top with whipped cream.

THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER MADE HOME MADE BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING, AND, I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY BOXED BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING! THIS RECIPE IS WONDERFUL! IT IS EASY TO MAKE & IT IS DELICIOUS!
had my little girls girlfriend over so i wanted something that most 8 yr olds like. Very quick and easy! I made 2 diffrent batches butterscotch and chocolate. Instead of sugar I used 1/3 c of agave nectar and 4T of cocoa for the 2nd batch and I love it!
I'm not sure how many people rate a recipe before trying it, but when I was a child my Mother used to make this from scratch for me. She passed away when I was only 14yrs. old. I am now 60 years young and I can still taste her special treat she made for me from her heart. When I saw this, it brought back such good heart full memories. Your ingredients are the same as hers. I can't wait to make this for my dear grandkids, I know they will love it as much as I and I will have a good story to tell as they eat it!
This recipe was EXCELLENT! It has such a smooth texture and the taste was just wonderful. I had never had a butterscotch pudding that was this good.
