What is Thanksgiving without stuffed turkey? The stuffing for this turkey contains ground beef, ground pork, nuts, cranberries, apples and apricots which is the perfect sweet and savory combination.
Original reipce makes 2 dozen Change Servings
PREHEAT oven to 325° F.
PLACE turkey in roasting pan, breast-side-up.
RUB turkey all over with olive oil and insert whole apple in turkey cavity. Pour evaporated milk over turkey; season with salt and pepper. Cover with foil.
ROAST for 3 ½ to 4 hours or until meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, without touching the bone reads 170° F or juices run clear when thigh is pierced. Let turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving. Prepare stuffing while turkey rests.
HEAT oil in large pan over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and ground pork; cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes or until no longer pink.
ADD pecans, pistachios, cranberries, apples, apricots, garlic and bouillon. Carefully pour in evaporated milk. Decrease heat to medium-low. Stir to combine.
COOK, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Remove from heat; let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
CARVE turkey and serve with stuffing. Whole apple from cavity can be discarded.
